ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Barbara Olszańska-Żywalewska is a visual artist born in 1975 in Lapy (Podlaskie Voivodship). In 1995 she graduated from Art School in Supra¶le, profile range: applied forms, specialisation: wood-carving. Studies at Sculpture Department of Fine Arts Academy in Gdansk, specialisation: medallurgy and little forms. Diploma in 2001 in the sculpture studio, under the guidance of professor Edward Sitek. She is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers, and, in addition to this, a founder and a member of young artists group, namely the "'75Group". Her artistic interests concentrate on issues associated with the existence of the human, their place in the universe, and relations with the surrounding world. She is inspired by observation of the world of people and animals. She occupies herself with the following art forms: painting, sculpture, batik, drawing. Her works can be found in art collections in Poland and abroad. She is a professional designer and producer of jewellery. Interests: art history, travelling, film, literature, puppetry.

• 2006 Collective exhibition of the "'75Group" artists in "Spodki" Gallery of the Voivodeship Centre of Culture Propagation in Bialystok, titled: "In wait for..."
• 2006 Enterprise of the "'75Group", titled: "Awakening", which constituted a part of the Festival of the Days of Modern Art in Bialystok.
